David Hasselhoff reveals ‘The Secret of my Success’. April 3, 2012Posted by feedthemoon in Uncategorized.
Piers Morgan recently scored yet another journalistic coup in an interview with David Hasselfoff that some are comparing to Frost’s famous grilling of Richard Nixon.
MORGAN: You know, some people have asked, ‘why is David Hasselhoff still famous, how on earth is he still appearing on Prime Time Television four decades on? How would you answer that question?’
HASSELHOFF: -Well,Piers, I guess I’m blessed that television – particularly Prime Time Television – is a celebration of all that is banal and demeaning to the human spirit. Rather than celebrate artists, poets, and philosophers and such like, TV likes to promote people with nothing to say, and with very little discernable talent other than, I guess, a talent for self-serving self-promotion. Each day I thank the dark gods of TV programming for making me rich, and even giving me the power to pass judgement on other people who wish to join this celebrity circus’—-
MORGAN: You’re talking about America’s Got Talent, obviously.
HASSELHOFF: -On which you also got to pass judgement Piers, if you recall.
MORGAN: Indeed I did. And I too salute the dark gods.
(MORGAN RAISES HIS GLASS IN A MOCK TOAST, HASSELHOFF FOLLOWS SUIT. THEY CLINK GLASSES AND LAUGH. AND LAUGH. THE LAUGHTER LASTS FOR THREE WHOLE MINUTES, AND SEEMS STRANGELY MANIC AND ANGRY.
EVENTUALLY THE CAMERA PANS BACK AND MUSIC SIGNALS THE END OF THE SHOW.
THE LAUGHTER CONTINUES RIGHT UP TO THE FINAL TITLES.)
